There are very few web services people use every day, only 5-6 at most. never-mind every hour. i can only think of a few Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, BBC news and one other that today was placed on death row. as some of you may have guessed i am talking about Google Reader, The Google ran, Cloud based RSS reader. I use it for everything, Tech news, XKCD, Some Blogs, and my favorite columns from some papers.
Google Said they where getting rid of the service as a “spring clean” and reader just didn’t have the user base. As an avid user I don’t see why, the people i know who use it can’t live without it. I looked for a replacement a number of times and its impossible to get something that a clean, simple and cross platform.
I don’t want Google to kill Reader, I want them to reinvent it. They complained there was a lack of users but it hasn’t changed in years… i hope that if reader dies something will be reborn from its ashes, that does the same job but better and sleeker.
